‘Health is Wealth’, keeping this in mind, we successfully launched A Health Campaign at A village near District Sangrur (PB.) (Village Mandialam Jamalpura, Malerkotla ) with a population of approx 2225 people had no health facility. Due to non accessibility to public health care and low quality of health care services, a majority of people in Jamalpura turn to local practitioners who have less knowledge to deal with the disease. On 20th-Aug-2014 Almighty foundation organized a health campaign for well being, preventing ill health and prolonging people’s lives at Jamalpura. Sr. Physician Dr. Muhammad Parvez and Dr. Amir Iqbal along with their team diagnosed 513 (registered) people who were treated free of cost and distributed free medicine. Health check included full body check up. The aim was to aware people living in remote areas about their starting age health issues. Our teams of Doctors guided people about minor as well as major diseases. We chose remote areas where no doctor, hospital or any health centre was available and reached helpless people.

In future, we plan to organize health campaigns in remote areas of places like Barnala, Nabha, Sherpur, Amargarh, Ah,medgarh, Bagriya, Sunam, Sangrur . These health campaigns will be focused at catering to the health requirements of poor people who don’t get medical help due to their location or financial condition. Our teams of Doctors put in their untiring efforts to aware people about health and guide them of living a healthy life.

India has made rapid strides in the health sector since independence. However, various eye opening data from NFHS clearly indicate that access to healthcare still remains a challenge. While the health statistics of rural India continue to be poor, the health status and access to health for the poor in urban slum dwellers has surfaced to be equally deplorable. Despite accounting for 1/4th of the country’s poor population, urban areas have less than 4% of government primary health care facilities.

Urban slum dwellers suffer from adverse health conditions owing to mainly two reasons –first the lack of education and thus lack of awareness; and second the unwillingness to lose a day’s wage in order to reach the nearest medical facility. Health for underprivileged, which is a desperate need, thus remains unaddressed. As a result, cases of poor women health, malnourishment in children and deaths from preventable diseases from such areas are always high.

The neglect in even the simplest preventive medical treatment usually leads to a more serious ailment and eventually into deaths. The need of the hour is thus a two pronged approach – first to bring quality health care services to doorsteps of the needy and second to promote healthcare awareness and contemporary health care seeking behaviour among the underprivileged.

In such a scenario a mobile health care services delivery system is the most practical mechanism. And in subscription to this view, Almighty Foundation has initiated the Almighty on Wheels programme. This is a unique mobile hospital programme that seeks to address problems of mobility, accessibility and availability of primary health care with a special focus on children and women, in urban slums and remote rural areas.

The situation calls for timely care and diagnosis which can reduce the incidence of morbidity and mortality especially among children and women. Almighty Health Camps is one such special initiative of Almighty Foundation to provide healthcare services to meet the immediate health care needs of the marginalized community in remote rural areas and slums through standalone camps. Customized health camps are organized extensively across the country offering comprehensive health services – curative, preventive, promotive and referral, to a large number of people in selected intervention areas.
